Abstract

The intention of this paper is to awaken what is in mind of many people, but is little revealed in the words of most, about the teaching of Theology in the Church. Therefore, it is an invitation to young academics and even to experienced theologians to question the current format of theological teaching, looking to create real possibilities for any lay person who feels called to follow the Church in this way, and that it is actually done. There are many who would like to study Theology, but can not because of the demands of the lay world. This limits Theology to priests and religious who often have the economic means and a lifestyle that allows them to do so. In the history of the Church, it has almost always been consecrated persons who have collaborated with Christian doctrine, spirituality, ethics; but in today world – with a lack of priestly vocations and many desertions, a crisis in religious life, synodality – it is necessary to offer lay men and women better opportunities to study Theology at a professional level. If injustice is spoken of, it must begin with the teaching of Theology itself.
