Spirituality is inherent to the human being. The term appeared in the Renaissance period in the 15th century, based on some ideas of Plato, a philosopher from the 4th century BC, who postulated about the body-soul dualism, in which the soul would be imprisoned by the body. This thought evolved into the idea of the triune human being, formed by the Body, Mind and Spirit, inseparably, contained in a single unit, which is the body, created by a Divine Being and therefore linked to Him. of the New Testament, Paul urges the community of Corinthians to recognize that they are temples of the Spirit of God, who dwells in every creature, The word spirituality whose etymological root comes from the word spirit – Latin “spiritus”, meaning “breath” or “breath ” and also “courage” and “vigor”, consists of an intimate experience of being, a search to discover the meaning of life and existence. This article aims to contribute to research related to the theme, bringing notes on the importance and benefits that a spiritual experience from a Christian perspective can provide to human beings. The relevance of this research is justified due to the instability of the current society generated by the crisis of values such as respect, solidarity, ethics, humility, a sense of justice. On the other hand, globalization, capitalism and consumerism have created a false conception that man is a subject that can be measured by what he has of tangible goods and values, and not by what is increasingly distancing him from his identity and dignity of being unique created in the image and likeness of the creator. Likewise, the educational culture, until the mid-twentieth century, defined as intelligent the person who had a high ability to solve technical problems, relegating to the background the ability to manage emotion, altruism, the ability to mediate and solve problems. challenges with resilience, interaction and engagement in interpersonal relationships. It was there that studies from the end of the 90's pointed out that it was not enough to be just intelligent in the cognitive aspect without taking into account the aspects that involve the feelings, sensations and emotions of the human being, which led to this same being the search for balance. But it still seemed that the search for this balance had not ended in the conquest of an emotional intelligence and maturity. In this context, the interest and understanding of a third intelligence emerged in the academic environment, which meets the answers to the meaning of human existence, placing actions and experiences in a broader context of meaning and value. This is the SQ, Spiritual Intelligence quotient. The focus of QS is the soul. Danah Zohar, an American physicist and philosopher, was the first to defend this flag in the Academy, however, it is already an experience and reality of faith, in the lives of hundreds of people since ancient times and in a routine way. The SQ is the intelligence that seeks meaning in life, brings purpose to what we do and directs the two other intelligences where to invest their energies. Studies by Leonardo Boff, Theilhard de Chardin were essential for a better understanding of the subject. The study will bring a brief journey of the holistic view of spirituality, in the integration between itself, the other and the universe, and of the Christian view, as being the driving force for a complete spiritual experience. Spirituality is core to Christianity, since, through the presence of the Holy Spirit, that is, the Spirit of Christ himself, man is enabled for Good and for every Good Work, such as social justice, solidarity, the exercise of citizenship and love.
